Initial Consultation
first visit
When you first enter our office, you will be greeted by one of our chiropractic assistants. They will show you how to fill the required forms, and assist you with any enquiries you may have, as well as find out who has referred you to our office.
As all of our care at POCO Chiropractic is tailored to you, we do an extensive initial consultation to evaluate you and your presentation which will consist of:
A thorough health history.
A comprehensive chiropractic assessment and physical examination, to identify what is and isn’t functioning properly in your spine and nerve system, and if you are in the appropriate place.
Request any previous plain film (x-ray) or special imaging (MRI, CT, Ultrasound/s) that you may have had or most recent lab tests. We may capture new X-ray images in-house or request new imaging (plain film, ultrasound, MRI or CT scan) from your GP, specialist or hospital.
We will make any appropriate referrals (if required), for both co-management or exclusive management by other professionals.
Report of Finding and First Adjustment (ROF and Care Plan)
second visit
After you have been assessed and analysed, we will compile a personalised plan of management (care plan) and if you would like to proceed, start with a trial of care.
In this visit we will identify:
What is going on and how we can help you, and if we can’t, who to see.
How long it will take in each stage of care.
What we need to do, and what you need to do, to get results.
Your first adjustment.
Your first adjustment:
After making an informed decision to start care, we will proceed to deliver your first adjustment.
During your first adjustment, the chiropractor will explain to you what they are doing and why, and try to explain as best they can what you will experience. We utilise a number of different approaches and techniques, and the experience will vary slightly for everyone as it is individualised.
Subsequent Visits and Progress
THIRD VISIT ONWARDS
After the doctor has recommended a care plan for you, visit to visit is a lot more streamlined. The doctor will assess the function of your spine and nerve system and evaluate where needs to be addressed at that visit.
All stages of care come with a recommended progress examination visit. The progress visit number will vary depending on you and your presentation, and what was determined as the best plan of management for you. In this visit we are re-assessing you to see how you are progressing with care, and if we can move you along to the next phase of care.
We work very diligently to get results with you, and if we determine that you are not responding to care, or not as quickly as expected, we will make suitable and appropriate recommendations on how best to proceed..
